{"id":107,"date":"2010-03-01T15:18:55","date_gmt":"2010-03-01T20:18:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/?p=107"},"modified":"2010-03-01T15:18:55","modified_gmt":"2010-03-01T20:18:55","slug":"mardi-gras-marathon-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/?p=107","title":{"rendered":"Mardi-Gras Marathon Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, I, along with 3500 other folks, completed the Inaugural <a title=\"Mardi Gras Marathon\" href=\"http:\/\/mardi-gras.competitor.com\" target=\"_blank\">Mardi-Gras Rock &#8216;n Roll Marathon<\/a> in New Orleans.\u00a0 My chip time was 5 hours 39 minutes and 41 seconds.\u00a0 That&#8217;s about 20 minutes slower than I had hoped, and about 8 minutes slower than my last marathon at Disney World.\u00a0 It was a beautiful day &#8211; no rain, or wind, and about 48F at the start.\u00a0 One down side in New Orleans are the roads.\u00a0 As I was thinking yesterday during the race and another participant in the airport put it today, &#8220;This is like running a trail run.&#8221; with roots, ruts, and pot-holes!\u00a0 I mean, if a person takes one mis-step there, a sprained ankle is probably going to be the outcome.<\/p>\n<p>For me, I ran up until about mile 14, then started walk\/runs.\u00a0 By the end, I was jogging 150ft for every mile.\u00a0 To top things off, I never did find the shuttle busses back to the start, so I ended up walking (limping) nearly 4 miles back to my hotel.<\/p>\n<p>Today I&#8217;m feeling a bit sore in the ankles, but other than that, nothing too bad.\u00a0 And I got a really cool medal!\u00a0 After completing the Rock &#8216;n Roll Marathon in Nashville in April, I will receive an extra special medal for finishing two of their races in a year.<\/p>\n<p>Oh yeah, the new New Balance shoes that I only started wearing a week ago turned out to be just fine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mardi-gras marathon recap<\/p>\n<div class=\"read-more\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/?p=107\">Read more &#8250;<\/a><\/div>\n<p><!-- end of .read-more --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,6,7],"tags":[311,65,113,69,116],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/107"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=107"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/107\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":108,"href":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/107\/revisions\/108"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=107"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=107"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=107"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
