{"id":159,"date":"2011-03-19T15:48:11","date_gmt":"2011-03-19T20:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/?p=159"},"modified":"2011-03-19T15:58:31","modified_gmt":"2011-03-19T20:58:31","slug":"zoot-sports-ultra-tt-40-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/?p=159","title":{"rendered":"Zoot Sports Ultra TT 4.0 Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I purchased the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zootsports.com\/spring2010\/product\/m-ultra-tt-4-s11?category=mens%2Ffootwear\" target=\"_blank\">Zoot Sports Ultra TT 4.0<\/a> shoes from <a title=\"Zappos.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zappos.com\" target=\"_blank\">Zappos.com<\/a> for $140.00.\u00a0 First off, let me say that I love Zappos.com.\u00a0 They give me expedited shipping at no extra cost because I&#8217;ve ordered so much from them.\u00a0 Returns (when necessary) are a breeze and they don&#8217;t give you any hassles.<\/p>\n<p>The Ultra TT 4.0 shoes are made for triathletes.\u00a0 They come with finger holes on the heel and (what would be) the tongue and do not require socks.\u00a0 This makes for easy changes during transition.\u00a0 These shoes also have weep holes in the soles so that water doesn&#8217;t pool inside of the shoes.\u00a0 Finally, they have elastic laces that simply need a tug and lift in order to tighten.<\/p>\n<p>At first I was skeptical about wearing shoes with no socks.\u00a0 I know that many people do it and these shoes were made just for that purpose, so I figued I couldn&#8217;t go wrong.\u00a0 They are definitely comfortable, but I started to get a hot spot on my right foot after 2 miles.\u00a0 I have a bunion and the ball of my toe protrudes, so others may not have this issue.\u00a0 Unfortunately, the back of the shoe with the finger hole rub the skin right off both of my ankles.\u00a0 Now I&#8217;m wearing band-aids on both.\u00a0 Perhaps I have wimpy skin or maybe one needs to build up to these kinds of things.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve always used socks in the past with running shoes, but he shoes never go that high in the back.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, I would give the shoes 4 out of 5 stars for the first three-miler.\u00a0 I&#8217;m hoping that the material in the back will soften up or my ankles will harden up.<\/p>\n<p>I read some reviews where the users thought the shoes were not cushioned enough for longer races, but I feel as though I could easily go long and not be any worse off than with my regular running shoes.<\/p>\n<p>Pros:\u00a0 Lightweight, carbon fiber arch support, quick lace, weep holes.<\/p>\n<p>Cons: Rubs my ankles the wrong way.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 437px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/images\/mini-weepholes.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Zoot Sports Ultra TT 4.0 Shoes Weep Holes\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/images\/mini-weepholes.jpg\" alt=\"Weep Holes\" width=\"427\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Weep Holes<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/images\/mini-sideview.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Zoot Sports Ultra TT 4.0 Shoes Side View\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tomheller.com\/images\/mini-sideview.jpg\" alt=\"Side View\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Side View -
